D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Shuushar points out that you are going to his altar before the "sacrifice" and Sarith adds that Kuo-toa are notorious for their short memories when it comes to deals of this sort.

Eldeth whispers to Ezraen: "And how do you think they will react if we tell them we have a couple lycanthropes in tow? No leader of any tribe is going to let that into their midst without some serious reassurances. We probably should be careful how we approach that."

OOC: This is one of those moments where I have to meta-play and NOT do what my character would, because it would result in likely-deadly mayhem that's unfair to other players.

"Please get tied up and fight our battle for us."

"Oh but we'll need iron-clad reassurances of safety for our part of the bargain."

Surana would be table-flipping mad at this point. She'd wanna kill this coward right here on principle, hike to the other camp, throw his head over the gate, and hope that'd be enough to get a boat and get the hell out of Dodge. To hell with what follows.

Ezraen looks at Shuushar with look of exasperation, "Then why are we even doing this?" He shakes his head, regaining his composure, "No, we do this. If they fail to hold up their end of the bargain, we will remind them of the folly of their treachery. Never mind about the twins, we will help them ourselves. I only hope that we can before it is too late."

Ezraen has a hard look of determination on his face, "Surana, Erevan, keep on the lookout for treachery from these fish. They will not do anything while we still work in their best interest, but once the deed is done, we shan't let our guard down."

"No. We have no way to help them. This is our only chance. The fish help the twins, or we don't fight for them.

We have been with the twins for weeks and haven't been hurt. They ask us to risk far more danger in their battle.

You're better at this talk than I am. You can ask nicely, or I can ask...less nicely."

"We are speaking through a mouthpiece, I do not know layer these words through Shuushar, so we will just have to be blunt. I fear that the altar, the one that he says he needs, may be the one we will be heading to ourselves."

Ez turns to Shuushar, "Ask your friend if he has another altar that he could use. Tell him that we want a gesture of good faith. If he protests, tell him that we still want passage across the Darklake, and are not going to be able to do that without his help. If he does not have another altar..." he turns, addressing Surana and Erevan, "Then perhaps we should include the twins among us as 'sacrificial lambs' then have Shuushar's friend perform his ritual while we do his dirtywork."

OOC: The Sea Mother shrine should be fine. We're just going there to meet Ploop's son. That's not where the battle will be. No need to ask for another altar, or have the twins in the battle.

Erevan nods. "We should inquire about the options for the gnomes, but we need to be careful how to phrase our plea. We could just ask for help in a delicate health matter, only disclosing details when they become relevant. Taking Topsy and Turvy with us could be a good option, but that gives the possibility that things go wrong before we have our safe passage. Shall we include a small favor should we succeed, but do the sacrifice first?"

"I am actually with Surana on this one. I think the direct approach will be best, that way he knows exactly what he needs to do. If he knows anything, he will be happy to remove the danger. If it fails, then we will need to worry."

"I don't know how best to ask, but they need to do this before we fight. We've been warned of how fickle they are about promises. We'll be at the altar before we go fight anyway, and I don't trust them to do it after they have what they want.

Shuushar, how would you ask? You know him best."
