Iconic Spells and Levels

Ok, so in the pod cast they are talking about 6 spells per level. I assume they mean per class. I will also assume the lay out has some over lap. I also assume the old levels of power.

So Wizard 1-9
Sorcerer 1-9
Cleric 1-9
Druid 1-9
Bard 1-6
Ranger 1-4
Paliden 1-4

so what are your thoughts

for those of you wanting a refresher, here is the SRD for 3e:Spell Lists & Domains Index :: d20srd.org

It will take me some time to figure out my own hopes.

I would say Wizard 1-10 with them getting spell levels on every odd level (so at level 19 get level 10 spells)
I would want Clerics to get level 1-7 getting them every 3 levels, so 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th,and 18th
Give them almost no class features (I said almost not none) then you can give bard, Druid and Sorcerer less spells but more features. (Inspire comp, wild shape, some sorta sorcerer thing)
Then the read headed step child WARLOCK could get less spells but a lot more use (at wills)
 

If I were to iconic 6 spells of the 4 spell level of my favorite class, the ranger, I would do it like this:

The 1s level will be mostly tailored to Detection and Animals/Plants as the ranger must first avoid danger

Charm Animal
Detect Animals and Plants
Detect Poison
Detect Snares and Pits
Speak with Animals
Resist Elements

2nd level has the first bit of magicky magic.
Animal Messenger
Barkskin
CLW
Hold Animal
Snare
Speak with Plants

3rd level is more Druidy and has unique ranger spells

Command Plants
CMW
Greater Magic Fang
Reduce Plants and Animals
Remove Disease and Poison
Water Walk

4th level is full on druid/wizard stuff to deal with danger magical beasts and other dangerous wild monsters.

Commune with Nature
Freedom
Nondetection
Polymorth Self
Restoration

I really hope spells don't overlap. I am of the opinion that each class should have a unique spell list that fits the style of the class. A bard doesn't need to be a wizard that wears leather armor and plays a lute. I also hope that core Ranger and Paladin are without the typical Vancian spells. The bard should just be modeled after Monte Cook's bard from his Eldritch Might II book.

I will also point out that spells seem to have greater effect if slotted into a higher spell slot.

I have to disagree. I like the idea of Dispel Magic being useable by Clerics, Wizards, Sorcerers, Druids... and I would hate to see 4 diffrent names for it.

Same with Hold person, Protection from Elements, and others...
