I'd like to know more about the rules for Dragon Age TTRPG

Hi all,

I see that there was some discussion about Dragon Age being a custom system, but didn't find any snippets as to what rules, system, etc. If there's a designer blog, I haven't found it.

So for those of you who played it--here's some questions.

1. Are there classes?
2. What the stats?
3. What's the mechanic for resolving skills and combat?
4. Magic and it's use?

Any other details would be interesting to know. Thanks!

Happy Gaming.

None of that is released yet, as far as I know. It's written by Chris Pramas of Green Ronin, who has said that it'll be beginner-friendly with an old-school (presumably, OD&D) feel.

I have only seen this so far...

"We use a class-based system that has levels--we're staying that close to our D&D roots. You start off with three basic classes, the wizard, fighter, and rogue, just to get you started. Very quickly, you get access to advanced classes, and even within those classes you get to customize abilities, stats, and talents--you buy points, build it up, and after a short while you'll be able to pick even more advanced classes. If you want to have a fighter-type character with magic-like abilities, there'll be a route you can take for that. If you want to be a barbarian berserker, you can do that, too...there's a route for everyone so players can build their character the way they want. There's a stupid number of class abilities and special abilities...I think it's more than in any other BioWare game."

Thanks Sen, very informative. I did find their forum for discussion so Chris Pramas will be putting out tidbits here and there supposedly in a few days.

Yes :)

So this sounds (based on admittedly scant info) somewhat similar to Warhammer RPG.
Not so much. 3 basic classes, not stacks of career paths and stuff. A simple enough system that totally new roleplayers shouldn't be at all intimidated. Box set presentation, which can have a different kind of appeal. And, well, most likely a rather different system from anything out there right now, WFRP included.

So yeah, it's 'dark fantasy', apparently, but other than that. . . nope. Or not that I've heard, at least.
