idea for a 5 level healer cohort

Genasi are half elemental half human sorta like tieflings and aasimar. You can guess what an earth genasi is

Genasi have fighter as prefered class and typicaly have save bonus and spell-like abilities related to their elements.

What about the "Healer" class from the Miniatures Handbook? It's not exactly a powerful class but it sounds perfect for a support/healer cohort type.
