Ideas for a battlesmith/hammer of moradin

Kaibith

First Post
Hey guys I am wondering if anyone can help me with an easier way
to get access to 2nd level divine spells for my hammer of moradin.
I have gone dwarf cleric 3, dwarf paragon 3, fighter 1 as I am wanting
to go battlesmith and have a high craft focus for rp reasons, just
wondering if I can get access to those spells through less levels?

There are only 4 prestige classes I'm aware of, and no base classes, that give you access to 2nd level spells with less than 3 levels.

Blighter grants you 2nd level Divine spells with 2 class levels. Druid base class though, and won't fit what it sounds like is the rest of your build.

Ur-Priest grants you 2nd level Divine spells with 2 levels in the class. It's not usable for someone who's worshiping a god already.

Now, Chameleon from Races of Destiny grants you 2nd level Divine spells with only 1 level dip into the class. It's only available to Humans and Dopplegangers, perhaps your DM will let you flex that part.

Finally, Divine Crusader from Complete Divine grants you 2nd level Divine spells with 2 levels. You need a BAB of +7 to qualify, but it otherwise sounds like it would fit.

Maybe you could help us understand your build so far? A Battlesmith requires BAB+5, while a Hammer of Moridin requires BAB +7, so neither of these classes are you entering right away. Perhaps a single level dip into Chameleon or 2 levels of Divine Crusader will get you what you're looking for.

Honestly, since Hammer of Moridin doesn't progress or benefit spellcasting in any way, I really don't understand what that requirement is in there for. Is there any way of asking your DM to remove or replace that requirement with something better suited?

Why I picked this.

My character is a dwarf smith that has realised that he wants to test his weapons in battle himself around the world, or something like that. I have gone battlesmith for RP reasons for my smithing, plus it is handy adding my WIS mod onto dmg, it also lets me make magical arms and armour which is one of the main reasons I took it. The reason I am going Hammer of Moradin is for combat, being able to throw warhammers around and them come back plus doing extra dmg from my wis mod. background story is I worked as a blacksmith while learning to become a hammer of moradin, although i havent met the preq for the battlesmith or the HOM i am still striving towards it. My DM said that this is fine and if I cant think of a good enough reason for leaving to go adventuring the party will approach my shop and seeing my quality of weapons as I am focussed on craft wep and armour am asked to join the party that is starting up a small kingdom and making me the forgemaster. There are some other details that i havent quite got yet but it is basically Smith for RPing and HOM for combat and RPing. I am also not worried about spellcasting too much I took cleric cause it gave me access to the forge domain and the craft domain which i got slight alterations from my DM, it also lets me cast heat metal and create water for me to forge, plus it lets me cast silence on myself so that while i blacksmith at night it doesnt make noise and the party can sleep. I plan on doing at least a little bit of smithing each day.
