Ideas for other Planes?

I am not clear about why you need new planes. Based on what I have read so far, The Wheel covers what you need.

--------------------------

The issue is always going to be that "true neutrality" (or "balance", really) is never going to fit into the other concepts. It will always need to go into the middle, and the others will wind up in a circle, and voila, you have the wheel.

I suppose you could stack them one atop the other instead, in what amounts to a tall cylinder. The Great Cylinder doesn't quite have the same ring to it, maybe some other name is needed. It could have a strangeness factor by having two equally valid sort orders when it comes to direct connectivity (coterminus), and with both ends of both orders connected to the "central city".

First Order: Law, Neutrality, Chaos:

Plane Zero: The Nexus
Plane One: Lawful Good
Plane Two: Lawful Neutral
Plane Three: Lawful Evil
Plane Four: Neutral Good
Plane Five: Neutral
Plane Six: Neutral Evil
Plane Seven: Chaotic Good
Plane Eight: Chaotic Neutral
Plane Nine: Chaotic Evil
Plane Zero: The Nexus

Second Order: Good, Neutrality, Evil:

Plane Zero: The Nexus
Plane One: Lawful Good
Plane Four: Neutral Good
Plane Seven: Chaotic Good
Plane Eight: Chaotic Neutral
Plane Five: Neutral
Plane Two: Lawful Neutral
Plane Three: Lawful Evil
Plane Six: Neutral Evil
Plane Nine: Chaotic Evil
Plane Zero: The Nexus

The Astral would be the transitive (coexistant) connecting them. The Nexus, or whatever it's name is, is coterminus as shown above, but (like Sigil) it has large numbers of portals making it more accessible than normal.

I don't want to remove Angels, Demons, etc. because they're really cool, and I don't want to spread them into the rest of the cosmos, because it would steal a bit of the other worlds' thunder.

Alignment planes are a fine solution but they aren't required to have Angels, Demons etc. In RL for many religions, you just have heaven, hell and earth ("light" aligned planes). Myself, I always use angels and devils and haven't used aligned planes in ages. Would never pass up all the color of angels and demons, though, and don't let aligned planes or lack there of be a hangup.

For one thing, the players in my games almost never get to the planes so whether there is one or many is irrelevant. But with a little thought, you can always give them a home appropriate to the setting be it an alignment plane or some other region. Myself, I prefer non-planes where the high beings need to rub shoulders with the other high beings and take appropriate measures. Provides lots of material for high level adventurers, back story, myth, etc.

If you want to have alignment planes, I think it depends on if you want the creatures living there to have imposed their views on the land, or were the planes already like that, and it attracted the creatures with relevant alignments there? Does the evil overlord pave over the plane and create the imposing walls and prisons by force of will, or is it already a plane of imprisonment and terror, where cages grow like hideous fruits from blighted trees "naturally?"

One thing I'd advise in deliniating the three good planes is to focus on the "not good" component of the alignment moreso than the good.

I.E. the CG plane...needs to have some SERIOUS chaos going on! So, how is chaos good? Ultimate freedom. Giftgiving is very common, if anyone wants for anything, they are helped out...however, everyone here also is dilligent and helps others...sloth IS a sin after all.

I'd start with what the alignments MEAN on each of your three worlds (i.e. CG in the Wild West might be like Doc Holiday from Tombstone ...or CN...but on another world, CG might be a fire that surges through forests, somehow only destroying malignant growths). Combine the two, and you might have, sharp wit, a loyal friend, and benevolent destruction being the focus of your CG plane -- heck, Prometheus could be a major god worshiped by both worlds.

Sometimes, writer's block is cured no so much by others' ideas, as a fresh perspective on how to develop or ferret out your own ideas...hope that was helpful.

The plane of Jelly Doughnuts - alignment Chaotic Neutral - because really, what's more random than a plane of existence made of Jelly Doughnuts?
A plane of random types of jelly.

The doughnuts are lawfully containing the jelly. They belong on the Lawful Evil plane.

Evil because they're sooooooooo good, but not good for you. Devils are all about the temptation.
