D&D 5E Ideas on how to frame someone!

Nagol, that was very informative and i really appreciate that, it gives me a lot to think about and i may be able to concoct a good frame from this honestly. mostly because i will end up being the investigator as well. the hard part will come in what evidence i plant to make it look good.

A good way to frame someone is to ensure that they are witnessed committing the crime. Ways to arrange that include using compulsion magic to actually make them do it, or using magical or non-magical means of disguise to take on their appearance.

One particularly nasty combination is to commit the crime whilst disguised as the person you're framing, then cast modify memory on them to make them remember doing the deed.

You should be able to use this to add more flavor to your game. Ask your DM about other secret groups or known assassins. Secret groups or powerful figures to use. In FR your have groups like the Zentarim or the Fire Knives, the Iron Throne, or even the Harpers could be used to frame and add more to your game and enjoyment for the whole group.

Keep in mind the classic triad: motive, means, and opportunity. The case against the person you are trying to frame will be strongest if the circumstances (including anything you plant) can be used to ascribe all three to him/her. Likewise, do not commit the crime or pick your framee in such a way that one of the three is diminished (for example, killing the target at a time when the framee will have an alibi).
