If I were to buy 1 White Wolf book . . .

Another vote for Mage: The Sorcerer's Crusade, with Sorcerer's Crusade Companion and Swashbuckler's Handbook. Though I haven't actually *played* it, it seems to handle Renaissance/swashbucking fantasy pretty well. If you read between the lines a bit, you can see the natural evolution from WW's version of Ars Magica (that insinuated a coming World of Darkness)....

I tend to prefer "animistic horror." With a culture hero twist.

Mr. Skemp, I've always thought you sounded like a pretty intelligent guy, and I wondered what you saw in W:tA. I don't quite understand what you mean by "animistic horror" (I understand the words, but the concept still seems a bit hazy). Could you elaborate a bit?

I'd love to hear more from some of the other people who didn't like my description, too. I really like the other WoD games and I'd love to figure out a way to really enjoy Werewolf, too. Rather than hijack this thread, I started a new one: http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37033
