If X were OGL, I'd write Y

If Dark Sun was OGL, I'd revive that setting with adventures, sourcebooks, and the like.

Have you ever considered coming up with a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting similar to Dark Sun in concept, but uniquely enough yours that you could develop and publish your own stuff for it, and still capture the flavor of what you liked about Dark Sun?

Just a thought,

My semi-secret project is something like this. If you're interested write to ryanstoughton a la hotmail.com

If Magic of Incarnum were OGL, I'd write a supplement devoted specifically to psionic support for it. :)
I'd write additional Binder and Truenamer magic system material.

I'd also write plane of shadows small setting material with shadowcasters, shadow ranger (plane of shadows variant of a ranger), etc, and some adventures starting off in said setting material. (EDIT: Granted the only thing I can't use in this piece was the shadowcaster, so who knows.... )

Did I mention I loved the Tome of Magic!! :D

Sadly, given the purchasing habits of most d20 gamers, you could come up with a damn-near-identical setting, little more than the original with the serial numbers filed off, call it "Sark Dun"....and sales would still be miniscule, because it wasn't Official.

X Star Frontiers

Y Lots of new material, starting with a revised and expanded Universe (much bigger, with more blank star systems in-between existing canon material).

But, even though it is not technically OGL, a number of folks have already been writing additional material all under a semi-green light from WotC. Check out www.StarFrontiersman.com to access the material available so far... and a new site for additional collaboration is almost ready for debut (I have helped with QC for the site while under development). Good Stuff!

If Weapons of Legacy were OGL, I'd write a sequel with a boatload more cool WoLs, plus a separate chapter of alternate rules for making static WoLs out of the existing dynamic ones. I've created five already, and have ideas for dozens more.

Exactly. A 3rd-party setting is going to get fairly minimal support. Supplements for it would get even less - and the volume of work required to create a new campaign setting for such minimal returns just isn't worth it to me, when there's so much else to work on already.
