If You Had Unlimited Funds for RPGs in General

This is a sequel to this thread. That thread is about what one would do with unlimited funds regarding D&D. This thread is about what one would do with unlimited funds regarding RPGs in general.

What I would do?

My first step would be to purchase Dangerous Journeys from Wizards. Then do a complete rewrite of Mythus, Mythus Magick, Unhallowed, and Changeling. Plus such revision and editing of the other books as necessary. Last, finish the Phæree Bestiary.

Finally, contract with Atlas Games to act as a fulfillment house, publishing the new Dangerous Journeys through them.

The first game released would be Unhallowed, modern day/near future horror. Game book followed up by a guide to the world of Eorth and a supernatural horrors book. Then release Mythus 2nd and Changeling. Both with supporting material.

All this supported by a web site, community forums, a mailing list, and a print periodical. Fan sites encouraged

For third party publishers a DJ specific open gaming license and a Dangerous Journeys trademark license for support material. (Unhallowed adventures, Changeling locales, that sort of thing.)

And DJ fiction of course.

Oh yeah, my first licensed product would be Dangerous Journeys: Buck Rogers.

What would you do with unlimited funds?

Build a life size replica of Sanctuary (city of Thieves World), hire some good working actors, a bunch of good people to help, and then run one heck of a LARP!! :D

A good game before all requires the right state of mind, so to be perfectly relaxed and happy. I thus need to get a sumptuous villa and yacht in some Polynesian island. I will accomodate a few of my friends as well in this place. We will have a couple of beautiful vahine to serve us drinks (but nothing else since my girlfriend wouldn't appreciate).

Then: I need to have several good painters paint all my minis; and then I buy more of them and have them painted. I also ask someone to make laminated cardboard floorplans with the Dundjinni software. As for books, I want d20 books with WotC quality but Easley and Elmore for artists. The books will be redone, tweaked with the rules I want, so to have themed games, first of all one titled "d20 Polynesia".

Thereafter we play twice per week, and during the day, not at night, because I am too old and prefer to sleep during the night.

Good and healthy food is also a must not only during gaming sessions, but all the time.

And OF COURSE I don't have to work to make a living! :)

Turanil,

Whatever levitates your sofa. :)

And I just thought of something.

Each DJ game would also have a board game version. A dungeon crawl kind of thing. Plus a standard and a trading card game. All board games, standard card games, and trading card games compatible with each other.

Plus guidelines for crossovers and mixed genre games. (Mythling, adventures in the world of the great computer mage.)

And rules for combining all board and card games into one glorious free-for-all.

Buy the license for Gamma World and do it right...

Buy out Palladium and switch the rules system to something that is playable... dropping Mega-Damage along the way...

Thundarr the Barbarian the RPG.

Give a bunch of money to the writer of Factory and Arsenal to create more gaming books.

I go with the LARP cities... but there's another step.
Make them fully self-sustaining communities. That is, you can actually be in character, 24/7, indefinitely.
Not that everyone would want to. But in theory, at least, there would no longer be any need for "Real Life" to interfere with gaming.

Create the publishing company, get the best artists for art and lay-out, and get new stuff out there for gamers to enjoy by contracting with someone (like S&S).

All things that will be done sooner rather than later.

What was that old Yul Brenner movie, West World or something? Same sort of thing only populated by robots. 24/7 might get old but you could offer vacation packages.

I'd pay for someone to watch my kids and take my wife (for a few years anyways..favors would probably cost extra)..so that I could play in peace!
