Unlimited funds eh?

I don't think I would buy any game companies or raise dead on many old games. I have enough systems and the like to keep me busy, thankee

. The single exception might be to get the Maelstrom Explorers Handbook published. I also might publish a vanity game or two -- probably in Unisystem or GURPS

beyond that I would buy a lot of games and minis and accesories to finish out my collection-- 50k US should do it

Than I would buy myself a super game store and stock everything I wanted too. Its just there to give me something to do really and aplace to game besides my house

Who cares if it makes money -- with unlimited resources I can support the turkey and still pay myself a sweet $250,000 US per year

I would game once per week or so and that would be plenty

Okay, I've got unlimitted funds here, so I don't have to make money, or be at all practical. What I'd do in this scenario is not what I'd do even if I had say, $1 billion to invest in the RPG industry.

First, I'd buy WotC from Hasbro for market presense and market share, and buy Green Ronin for True20 as a core system for my pet projects. After that, I'd move corporate HQ to San Diego (I'd keep an office in Seatle for anyone that didn't want to move), and raise salaries there so that a senior game designer widely respected in the industry is paid at least as well as a middling talented web developer (that this is nowhere near true is why in the real world, even if I thought I had talent, I'd never work in the RPG industry).

Then I'd leave them to their own devices for the most part, except that I'd go nuts producing licensed games of any books/movies/TV shows that I liked and could get the licenses for (while making sure that games from the same genre don't come out stacked on top of each other). Everything would get a core rulebook, a mega-adventure, one expansion, and enough promotion to make sure that gamers and fans of the source material know about it.

If I had unlimited funds I would first buy a large house in a place easily accessible by my group. One of the larger rooms I would convert into a gaming room. The walls would be covered by plasma screens that would show the surrounding environment, be it desert jungle whatever, special movies created by good FX studios. I would have a really expensive sound system installed for all those music and sound effects. I would have very good air conditioning to duplicate cold, hot, warm environments. Multiple lighting sources of various colors to add some more to the environments. Comfortable seats, refrigerator, multiple laptops, bookholders, candleholders, candles with various scents, private metro access to my house...
