What the hell is wrong with you people?

Why don't you all go and get some sleep and wait until WotC releases it's official statement before throwing your poo around?

Perhaps because the official statement should have come before WotC started throwing poo*, or at least at the same time as they cancelled the PDF sales.

*Stopping legal sales means they suspect everyone interested purchasing a PDF of being a pirate.

Nah. E.g. some banks have guards to protect from criminals robbing the bank. Doesn't mean they suspect everyone in the whole world being a bank robber. Or pirate.

OTOH, if I were Scott and I had forewarning but was forced to keep silent, I'd also be looking for work elsewhere. I left an employer a few years ago because they wanted me to lie to clergymen. You have to draw the line somehwere and Scott always comes off a generally well-meaning guy. I think he's probably better than whoever pulled the trigger on this screw job.

I've worked for Salvation Army and have had memos handed down to me that stated we were going though a HUGE change in pricing and sales in our region, and were informed we could not talk about it until the signs were in place and the stores opened on the day the change would take place.

The day it would take place? On our Weekly 50% off day, which had just become another regular 0% off day. The time of the year? November of course.

I've never spent one day in my life apologizing to people while being screamed at, and yes, even threated than I did that day.

Telling employees to keep their yap shut about something bad that's gonna happen is fairly standard practice for companies.

*As a side note, the only reason I didn't call in that day, was because how unfair it would be to everyone else that had to work on such a special day.

I don't think its fair to give Scott any crap about this unless he comes forward and admits that this move was his idea.

In a publicly traded company such as WOTC, these decisions are made by a whole group of idiots. A single individual doesn't have near enough dain bramage to pull this off. :hmm:

I'm sure WOTC will send the poor guy out to suck up all the rotten tomatoes. Try and remember that the real culprits are using a human shield before you throw.

He gets paid to be that human shield though - it's his job. And rotten tomatoes do not kill anyone when thrown, they're only dangerous when ingested.

Just because someone is paid to be a representative of the company doesn't make it morally good to vent your spleen at them.

Yes, it's their job to answer questions - sometimes angry questions. That doesn't make it your duty to make their lives tough or insult them.

If I were Scott, I'd go to Vegas for ale (or other substances) and whores.

But then, that's what I'd do if I was anyone else for only a day, and didn't have to deal with the repercussions.

I'd probably take a few days off, and spend them on the coast somewhere drinking rum and playing guitar. Which is what I recommend for anyone who works as hard as he does, regardless of what "new" circumstances might come up.
