IG Productions is entering into talks about doing a Ghost in a Shell live action!

Ghost In The Shell has nothing to do with the Terminator. How could you compare one element, and say they will just go on that? Despite perhaps the Kusanagi and Bato are fleshy on the outside and machines on the inside, they are people first, cyborgs second. The Terminator is a machine first and... well, don't let the exterior fool you, he still thinks like a machine!

Any critic who seriously compares it to the Terminator... well, they should get a new day job. You might as well compare Battlestar Gallactica to the Terminator. About the same amount of similarity.

The real question... who the hell would you cast?!

This may be far out in left field... Ron Perlman for Bato? *ducks* Worst problem might be the voice...

Kusanagi though... where are you going to find someone who is fairly muscular, stacked, tall and hot, with soft facial features, who can act?

Yeah it's certainly not anyone I can think of, short of maybe someone doing a Linda Hamilton and thus bulk up for the role.

Mickey Rorke would be an option if he dyed his hair white/yellow something :p. After his appearance in Sin City he could be fine imho, just needs to play a different character.

For the major... hmmpppp....... clueless atm.

Lindsey Lohan as the Major, Mathew Mac(something) as Bato and the Backstreet Boys as the rest of the gang with Udo Kier as the Chief.

Since nothing is set, not even a studio, who knows if this will be a straight-to-video fiasco, a new cult classic, or a blockbuster film. I just hope the script makes the "what does it mean to be human" theme more of a subtext, not so much in your face exposition like it was in the first movie. More like Blade Runner, or even how the GiTS TV series has done.

Casting... I see the Major as petite, though athletic. My first thought was Lacey Chabert. A little pre-production workout should get her in the proper shape. Worked for Linda Hamilton for T2.

What? She's not as squeaky as she use to be. :p

Otherwise, I'd have to go with Ziyi Zhang, from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, though I'd hate for her to have to cut her hair for the part...

Who the Hell is Lacey Chabert and why should she get to play the Major?

Ziyi would be a good choice. Cutting her hair isn't that big a deal, is it?

Flexy,

Just wait and see. I'm hopeful IG will have some hands on control over how this is done.

Hell maybe they'll get Yokko do the music score!

Did Yokko do some of the music for the SAC? I listen to Lithium Flower all the time, I love the GITS music.

I'm pretty sure she did most the arrangements for it, but not all the performances. The openings for SAC and Second Gig were hers. Lithium Flower is some other guy.
