Illithid Savant

I've been running through various ideas for my campaign's BBEG and came across the Illithid Savant from Savage Species. It seems that a high-level villain with this class could have near-infinite feats, skill points, and spell use. Has anyone experimented with this critter?

The example NPC (I never thought they'd be useful) implies that you can only have as many features "stolen" as the ability allows. That is, with Acquire Feat 1, you can only have one feat acquired by the ability.

At least the example savant has Acquire Skill 1, Acquire Feat 1, and Acquire Class Feature 1; and only has one of each acquired.

The wording is rather vague-after reading more thoroughly I'm wondering which way it should be. Seems kinda weak if that's the case since you can't (apparently) improve the ability.

So does anyone know for sure? Seems like it could go either way to me.
