I've always thought I was special. And everyone else calls me 'special' all the time too!

For the longest time I have struggled with gamer labels. I thought I was a CharOpper, until I hung with some CharOppers. I thought I was an optimiser, until I hung with some Optimisers. I thought I was a min/maxer... you get the picture. I wanted to be a grognard but my hat of d02 knew a limit.

It wasn't until a recent discussion about optimising that I realised I needed a new term just to describe myself and my place in the gamer hierarchy. Finally, after setting my brain to the task and putting it on the back-burner of my sub-conscious mind, I had a break-through just now and so I felt I had to share this massive revelation so that others in my position can feel wanted, loved, and labelled!

I am a Specialist!

What I like most about character creation is finding a niche and specialising in it. Stealth, sabotage, DPR, spike damage, disguise, stupidity... whatever it is, I like my character to be awesome at it. I don't care if that means he sucks at lots of other things as long as he can pull off awesomeness in at least one field, then I'm happy. In fact, a character WITHOUT flaws is boring to me.

Being a wannabe writer, I'm all about conflict in character. Conflict is drama and drama is what moves a story forward and allows the audience to empathise with the character. And I am the QUEEN of DRAMA!

So fellow Specialists, let us unite and specialise! We shall gather around effigies of Phillip Sheppard and praise him and ask for his guidance and wisdom through visions and randomly found feathers!

i'm glad you accept yourself as you are.

You must be very brave for coming out of your special closet

:)

PS. I really am joking. That was a real smile on my real face.

To a large extent, my hat of d02 knows only lint. (I should dust more often.)

Heh... I'm right there with you. How about we start a support group?

In fact, I've even gone so far as to specialize in the "Jack of All Trades" niche.
