I'm Done with "I'm Done "Threads

Naah, I'm not done with ENWorld yet. But when I am, I'm sure to leave behind a couple of "I'm done with.." threads  :p

That's a witty turn of phrase, but it doesn't defend the argument. Do you still think threads about leaving D&D behind are inappropriate for EN World? If so, what do you think of my points above?

If you like D&D, great! Awesome for you! And my advice is to not click on posts called "What I think is wrong with D&D" if you can't stand to hear something negative about it.

I'm afraid that's a two way street.

It's just as fair to say you should expect your criticisms answered on the board like ENWorld as it is to say you should expect to see such criticisms in a thread such as you posted.

That's funny, because all I see coming from you is "heretic" bashing.
Take a look:

You quoted only the bashing part of my post and then claim "all I see coming from you.." Not very ingenoius.

I also gave the man a suggestion how to fix his game so he didn't have to surrender, and I enlightened people about forum etiquette. So I didn't just bash.

Sorry if I annoyed you btw.

You didn't, or I don't think you did. I just gathered somebody was annoyed, hence this thread etc..

And my advice is to not click on posts called "What I think is wrong with D&D" if you can't stand to hear something negative about it.

And my advice is to not post threads that annoy me. I don't think that's going to happen, though ;)

Thanks to D20/OGL & even a newer WotC product or two (Star Wars Saga Edition), D&D is no longer the "one true way" to do the twenty-sided dice.

For some people, non-D&D products do better at capturing the type of game that they want... and yet they can still even use a Wizards of the Coast D&D product or two for that non-D&D system. For some, D&D is exactly what they want.

I think there's a wee bit of system snobbery here and there, both for and against D&D since D&D is the elephant in the room... but 3.0/3.5 D&D IS the elephant in the room.

/If there are problems from some people not being 100% in love with the tone of D&D right now, I think there are at least as many problems from fans of D&D who aren't so tolerant of other D20/OGL products.

I won't defend an argument I never made. Somebody just inferred from my earlier post that I would advocate banning such threads. I don't.

I just find them a bit juvenile and annoying, at least the latest incarnation. I believe in less moderation, not more. In any case I have the right to explain to people why such threads are not always received well.

If so, what do you think of my points above?

Nothing. I'll just keep on explaining to people why griping about 3E might tick of people. It'll catch on, trust me

Ingenious or not, after I read the sarcasm and attitude, that's all I saw in the rest of your posts. I'm sure your comments were all kinds of enlightening, but the snarky attitude up front made me skim over the majority of what you've written.

And my advice is to not post threads that annoy me. I don't think that's going to happen, though ;)

By all means, feel free to click that ignore button.

Folks, I'm going to have to ask for a bit less personally-directed snark, witticism at the expense of others, and the like. It is hard enough around here with simple misunderstandings, we cold do with somewhat less outright attempts to antagonize.

Thanks for your cooperation.
