Hi, I am your average teen, ages 13-18. I am arrogant and full of self-importance - you might also say, I am secretly king of the world. I will not be switching to D&D 3.5 for various reasons; each more forced and contrived then the last. But you should care why I'm not, because my preferences and buying habits should affect you, because I am secretly king of the world. Let me tell you my reasons, since you obviously want to know.
1) It costs too much money. Obviously WotC engineered this plan to make us buy the original core rulebooks and knowing we'd buy the new ones, raise the prices on them.
2) It's not compatible with earlier D&D products. How can I use Unearthed Arcana from 1st edition in my D&D 3.5 game? They are not compatible, like 3rd edition was.
3) All your base are belong to us.
4) I'm too hip for WotC. WotC is the enemy, no matter what they do. We shouldn't support the spawn of Hasbro. I support all third party publishers because WotC has enough money and doesn't need my business to stay alive.
