I'm stuck in a library; what book should I read?

I'm at my college's library, and I need something to read for the next two hours while I wait somewhere with no internet access. What book should I check out and read?

I'm particularly fond of the Jane's compilations.

Aside from nice pictures of warships and other such fun things, there are ads. These, actually, make the book for me.

I know this is much too late, but in my limited experience, college/university libraries generally have some (possibly old) fantasy novels buried in their literature sections. If you get stuck there again, you might try looking up Dunsany and other old authors.

I say you should go after the old classic chinese novels, like Water Margin or Romance of the Three Kingdoms. College libraries should have those.

Otherwise, just pick a random subject of interest and browse. That is a lot of fun. I found some interesting books on RPGs, Chess and Go, and Videogames that way.

Check the paleontology section. I've gotten some of my best monster ideas there, nature has come up with things so strange no one will believe you didn't invent them.

Like carnivorous forests or sessile animal-trees. Or a predatory gastropod with what can only be described as "feeding tentacles" long muscular tentacles with mouths at the end. Yes those are real.

I'll believe it when I see it on Wikipedia. Any idea what those things were called? They sound more like something out of Barlowe's illustrated guide to extraterrestrials.
