• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

I'm typing up my schedule.

So here's what's on my plate.

Library:
I've just got to keep up a good work ethic, study a bit on research techniques, and be outgoing and professional. I also, today, need to go through the box of lost and found and date everything, so we know when it's okay to throw stuff out.

E.N. Publishing:
I'm busy, as usual.

Mythic Earth - the modern Elements of Magic supplement, which I was quite proud of before Gen Con, now feels a little bland after reading the World of Darkness core rulebook. I'm not going to add 30 pages of fiction, but I'm looking into adding a bit more flavor. I've got an art call, because of my top three choices of artists, two weren't available, so I can't send it off to layout yet. I need to pick one or two artists and have them do the final few pieces. Hopefully it'll be out in September. Durn it. I wanted this out in July.

The Ironics, Mechamancy - these both came out in the past month or so, and I need to increase their visibility since they weren't hyped enough due to my focus on the ENnies. I need to see if I can drum up some reviews.

Technologist - this book, which could probably use a better name, is sort of the third point on the triangle that already has Steam & Steel and Mechamancy. It's another take on technology in fantasy, and where the other two took more of a industrial approach, examining ways to make mechanical and technological devices, Technologist focuses on gadgets. There's not a build-yer-own-gizmo ruleset. Instead there's just a bunch of nifty devices.

For Technologist, I need a new name, I need to edit the thing (it's huge, 150 pages), I need to get art, and I need to email the author with comments.

Smaller projects -- I've got to wrangle Jake and Denise after this weekend. I know they probably needed more time to rest and recover after Gen Con than I did, but we've got product lines to manage. I'm hoping we can get an Arsenal book out in the next week or two.

Future projects -- Mechamancy has an add-on book fully written, but I haven't had a chance to read or edit it yet. I'd like to do small EOM products once each month, but I'm not going to start any more books until after everything I listed above is done. Gabriela, the Brazilian woman who made waves among the EN Worlders at Gen Con, wants to coordinate releasing her company's products in North America. Before Christmas I want to release an updated version of Tournaments, Fairs, & Taverns. I also have a Mythic Earth tie-in comic book planned, but the artist isn't in a financially stable position, so spending a month to do a comic might be a bad idea.

Whew.

Other EN World Stuff:
I need to update my Mythic Earth storyhour, preferably at least a few pages each day. I need to start planning stuff for ENnies '06. I've got to create a flyer of the ENnies '05 winners that EN Worlders can take to their FLGSes (that one will be fun). I also need to post here and there to pimp E.N. Pub products, and to answer various EOM questions that come up.

Personal Stuff:
I'm trying to finish my novel. It would be great if WotC said, "Hey, we liked your proposal. Send us the full text within a week." But then I'd have to scramble to write about 60 pages in a week. *grin* I mean, sure, the book is 'finished,' but that doesn't mean I like how everything turned out. I seriously need to spend at least two hours a day on this.

I'm trying to create a sales pitch for a D&D cartoon. My friend at Cartoon Network says that they aren't accepting fantasy show proposals, which is why I have to impress WotC first, so that I'll have clout. The first step is to create a show bible and a script for the first episode, which would be about a total of 30 pages.

There's a girl I like, with whom I'm talking. There's another girl I like who I know is not interested in a relationship, but she's gorgeous and flirty, so I'm going to stay interested even though I know nothing can happen. There's another girl I used to like, but she was mean to me for a while, but now she's being nice again, so I'm considering, if she stays nice for a few months, I might be interested in her again.

I've half-finished my 20-page convention story that I'm sharing with my friends. So far no one is interested in reading it, and I realize it's too long and detailed. Time to trim.

One of my friends, who injured her knee last year and took a long time to heal, just sprained her ankle. We like to play basketball together, and she's the sort of person who doesn't feel right not being active, so I worry she might get unhappy that she seems to keep breaking. If anyone has a miracle cure for a sprained ankle, I'd like to hear it. Otherwise, we're going to make sure she doesn't strain herself. My roommate sprained his ankle last year, and didn't let it heal long enough, and now he has chronic pain in his ankle.

At least this means we're going to be playing more magic.

Basically, I've got more things to do now than I really have time for. I'm going to cut back TV to only Rescue Me and Daily Show. I'm planning my schedule to be thus:

Sunday - Rest day. Spend 4 hours writing. Hang out with friends and do housework and laundry and such.

Monday - E.N. Pub day. From 8am to 4pm, do E.N. Publishing work. Spend an hour around noon on the boards, answering questions, but otherwise avoid the boards because you're addictive. Basketball at 4. Magic at 7.

Tuesday - Library work from 7:45am to 11am. It's okay to check boards during work. Lunch, then editing or writing work from noon 'til 3:30. Go home, chill. Possibly do some personal writing, plan the cartoon, etc.

Wednesday - As Tuesday, but basketball at 4.

Thursday - Morning editing or writing 'til noon. Lunch. Then library work from 1 to 5.

Friday - Library from 7:45 to 11. Hang out with friends on campus until 3:30. Basketball, then D&D. A work-light day.

Saturday - Library from 9:45 to 4. Most likely there'll be a party in the evening.

I'll post next Saturday to let you know if things go according to plan. Heh.

What order to tackle projects, though? First is Mythic Earth art. Then technologist editing. Then Techno art. Then pimping mecha and ironics. Then editing mecha2. Then discussing ironics2.

Well, I must say that I am envious. It sounds like you are happy with what you have going on in your life. Not that I'm not happy with mine, just the opposite. I'm envious because I could never sit down in front of my comp and pump out pages of original material on a schedule. I look forward to seeing your work.
