Imperial Age Omnibus?

This was brought up elsewhere so I thought I'd bring it up here.

While an "OGL Imperial Age" would incorporate the Modern SRD, I may take the opportunity to tweak the rules a bit for smoother play. This would be more along the lines of "incorporate spot and listen into a generic "notice skill" (to use a Green Ronin example) than "completely rewrite the basic classes." It should also go without saying that I'd eliminate inappropriate skills, feats, and F/X (e.g. the Computer Use skill).

I would only make tweaks after careful consideration, however, because I'd want maximum compatibility and ease of conversion.

I wonder...Would it be appropriate for these "tweaks" of an OGL Imperial Age to include things like feats or talent trees which may be appropriate for the Imperial Age but might not stand on their own as a product? Just a thought.

Stop reading my mind! :)

Seriously, there've been bits and pieces of other open game content, in addition to little bits and pieces of my own, that are certainly worthy of consideration. There are also some things within the SRD that I think should hit the cutting room floor (I'm having a hard time justifying the Tough Hero Energy Resistance talent tree).

That said, assuming we go OGL, I don't want to bloat the product out that it'd become unwieldy.

Yeah, I think the key here is going to be making choices that actually enhance the Imperial Age setting and feel, not just cool d20 Modern rules bits. Having said that, I would have no problem with the Tough Hero Energy Resistance talent tree within in the context of a Faeries game where spells that do energy damage are common or in a Engines game where the PCs might face off against lightning guns or acid bombs or flame throwers on a regular basis. In a fairly mundane, or low fantasty, IA game? Nope, doesnt make a lot of sense; but in certain contexts I would say go for it. But don't mind me, I can justify almost any mechanical change to a PC.

And therin lies the rub :)

I could justify it, too, but that would bloat out the product. What I DON'T want is a significant number of customers to pick up a copy and say "No energy resistance tree? Crap, now I need to have both books anyway."

Maybe I need to start a design thread on the Adamant site for suggestions on trimming and adding.

Honestly, what are the chances that someone knows imperial age, WANTS imperial age, but is not already a fan of d20 Modern, or can't pick up the MSRD stuff to bring it into Imperial Age?

I'd like to see some of EtherScope make it in!

Thanks for the compliment as to the quality of our work guys. I'm personally a big fan of alternate Victoriana, but not pdf, which is why I'm looking forward to this omnibus. Probably upset me to see what Stormborn could have done for us though ;)

I picked up the imperial age line during the Gygax Memorial sale. I would not be interested in an omnibus or compilation one, just more expansions of the line using d20 modern such as the darkest africa product mentioned.

And would have been more than happy to do so! Although that does remind me of some non-Ethersope work set somewhere far away from London... e-mail me sometime :)
