I'd rather go with He-Man references. Especially the most recent comic series, that was 600lbs of rock solid awesome.

I really hope the martial classes have a lot of abilities that can work if they're disarmed... the casters are just way more able to live life without possessions as is.

Especially sucks to be a sword and board defender without your sword OR your board.

More Madmartigan, less He-Man, hopefully.

D&D has always been closer to He Man than Tolkien, IMO....(Despite the fact it predates He Man by almost a decade, both of them drew on the same kind of wonky sword&sorcery stories more than Tolkien's detailed worldbuilding.)

Well even ignoring he-man and harry potter, a cleric in 3e was mostly helpless if you took away his divine focus (holy symbol) and the mage was mostly helpless if you took away his spell component pouch.

And my rogue/swashbuckler was mostly helpless if you took away his swords.

The only "I'm totally bad ass totally naked" 3x core classes were the monk and warlock. And the druid if he had wildshape. Maybe the bard if he chose Perform (singing a capella).

4e wizards and warlocks also, depending on how you define "spare wand."

Only the males, I think.

The women just have an extra body cavity to hide one in.
True. If both males and females could do it, that would have to be my line in the sand on the gamist/simulationist divide.
