Perhaps you should take up a less costly hobby, like decoupage or needlepoint. :D

My PirateCat donation is away. I hope his unforseen expense is acute, not chronic. This was a great idea, Eric.

While reading through this thread I had this idea. How about the Poor Gamer's GenCon Fund. The ENWorld community gets together to raise money for some poor soul who's contributed to the RPG community to help pay for his trip to GenCon Indianapolis. It could be any one living anywhere in the world, the only criteria being that he has made a substantial contribution to the RPG hobby, and that be be otherwise unable to attend GenCon Indianapolis due to financial difficulties.

Members of the ENWorld community would nominate people, a board of volunteers would then determine if the candidates are indeed eligible, then select one from those to sponsor.

This is kinda based on the Down Under Fan Fund (DUFF) which brings an Australian fan to the World Con when it's outside of Australia.

Disclaimer: Since I came up with the idea, I must disqualify myself from consideration.

Let me know what you think.
