Important! Interview opportunity - what do you want to know about the GSL?

Damn, I missed this thread. I would have added: Will the GSL have any kind of friggin announcement when it is added to, unlike the OGL which seemed to be a case of "Hey, check and see if we added something, maybe you'll get lucky"?

Also, what are the odds that WotC 4E products will include any 'open content', given that 3E/3.5E WotC products notoriously didn't?

*Sighs* Ahh well, so much for my timing. Where/when can we read the interview, PC?

I believe that you are referring to the d20 STL, not the OGL. The d20 STL was updated several times, but the OGL was not.

I think he refers to the System Reference Document (SRD). As far as I know, the licenses themselves did not change except when they went from 3.0 to 3.5.

This is why most of this talk seems confused. Most of the discussions use the terms interchangeably, when they are not.

Including "System Reference Document".

We already know that the Fourth Edition SRD associated with the Game System License will not be a stripped-down version of the ruleset, but rather a document which states which parts of the rules are considered Open Content and/or are covered by the GSL.

"Adding to it" in the Fourth Edition era won't be adding new rules and material - it will simply be a case of indicating licensed content in future products from Wizards of the Coast.

Unfortunately, folks, I have some bad news.

WotC has elected not to go forward with the interview, in favour of a formal Q&A on their own site.

For those interested, I have attached the list of questions we sent to them.

[Edit - I've just received clarification from WotC on their intentions (apparently there was a misunderstanding via email earlier today) - they do intend to answer all of the questions, some of which will be exclusive to EN World and the rest of which will be addressed on both sites.]

Were the questions too hard? :)

Seriously, this is disappointing. Hopefully, though, they don't shy away from the important, and therefore uncomfortable, questions in favor of over-the-plate fluff questions. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, though.

I really don't see a problem with this. More than the readers of EN World have an interest in the GSL; putting a Q&A (that takes into account the questions of their own D&D forum) into a centralized place makes sense.

Did they give any indication *when* they might get around to actually posting the A's to those Q's? Doesn't say in the thread they started.
