Improved Disarm while unarmed?

A character gets Improved Disarm, thinking he can use his empty off-hand to snatch weapons away from an opponent. He doesn't have Improved Unarmed Strike, so does Improved Disarm protect from an attack of opportunity?

Let's say the character in example number one has a natural attack that can be used as a secondary weapon (a kobold with its claw attack, for instance). If he keeps one hand free to make a secondary natural attack with (at -5), can that attack be a disarm, sunder, etc?

Yes. Improved Disarm protects you from the attack of opportunity caused by the disarm attempt.

Well, he can do anything with a natural weapon and an attack action that he can do with a manufactured weapon and an attack action (barring special properties of the weapon/natural weapon).

And Kobolds don't have claw attacks.
