DM Magic
Adventurer
I am writing a one shot adventure, where most of the major plot points are decided by rolling on tables. It's for my micro RPG, Here Is Some F**king D&D. Here's how that particular encounter looks now that I've finished filling out the table:I think I wandered into this same conversation over on Reddit.
If I did, forgive me if I'm accidentally repeating myself and not just recounting some imaginary post I answered in a dream.
Why are the monsters there and why are they attacking the PCs? Is there a reason why the fight is happening?
After their meeting with the contact is complete, the Squad is attacked by the villain’s minions, sent to stop them before they can begin their mission. Roll on the Minion & Commander Origin table to determine what attacks and what leads them. During combat, roll on the Minion Complications table once or twice to see what additional mayhem the minions engage in.
Example: Having completed their business with Maeve, the Squad prepares to leave. However, in the monastery’s courtyard, they are suddenly attacked: Exodus has sent a group of praesent euismod tellus, lead by an ut elementum ex id, to stop them. During the encounter, several minions break off and begin to kill people and destroy property.
