Thoughts:
The Feats from Libris Mortis look very nice and it looks like they either listened to complaints or planned it all along as the writeup on the book says that Libris Mortis roughly translates to 'From the Books of Dead.'

Monster Manual III looks cool as well. Before I read the writeup on Kenkus, they looked really boring, but this has piqued my interest. I'm now looking for ways to try and include them in my Homebrew. :)

Kenku! Did you say Kenku?!

Crap, now I am actually interested in MMIII!

Edit: OK, took a look at the write-up. While I really like the old Asian/trickster/katana & Illusion wielding Kenku a lot, the new version is
certainly interesting. I can definitely see them in an Eberron campaign.

Shining South is the one I'm after - I'm a big fan of the FR regional sourcebooks and Dambrath, Halruaa and so on are some of the best-designed area of the realms, from a pure fantasy-world-building perspective. Not all that happy with having three adventures eating up page count in it though - it I wanted an adventure, I'd damn well be buying one!

And hey, Shining South only has 9 PrCs! Thats fairly low. Way to go WotC on killing the crunch. 33 spells? Whats that like 5 pages? Looks like another 24 page crunch section.

Libris Mortis looks like it has promise.

MMIII is looking better and better all the time.

Aaron.

Not a big fan of the regular Realms, but I really liked the original Shining South supplement years ago. I'd probably flip through it, and see if I dig it. I hope that the Mhair Jungles got fleshed out a bit more, along with the Utter East next to Estagund. I had a lot of fun with the Shaar and Lapaliiya, with the lack of detail in the region, and a Forgotten Realms Atlas, I wrote up a lot of fun stuff there.

I'm looking at the tidbits about Complete Arcane:

"192-page D&D hardcover for arcane magic-wielding characters of all classes with new and updated core classes and arcane-related monsters (with information on fighting, joining, and summoning them)."

and Races of Destiny:

"192-page hardcover that details the highly adaptive races that inhabit virtually every corner of the D&D world, with a focus on humans, half-elves, half-orcs, and an all-new race: illumians. "

Illumians? Huh? (I did like the goliaths, though)

OTOH, RoD does cover humans - very happy to see that.

Cheers!

Outside chance that Libris Mortis might be of use/interest.

I am glad to see the Basic/Intro set, because I have a feeling some people are intimidated by the thought of having to buy the three books just to run a game, but obviously it is aimed at a different crowd than would appear on these boards ;)

Other than that, another month or so with nothing of serious interest for me at WotC. Kinda sad, but in the end understandable.

What? No new race in Shining South? But who will be the new "you never heard of them outside of old tales, their incredible might was matched only by their depravity, they were thought to be long gone and forgotten, but now they are back with a vengeance" guys?

One of the prestige classes, maybe.

AFAIK Shining South has new races. I read it somewhere. Maybe the writeup to be put on the back?

Not on the back, but in the blurb Mat Smith wrote before the backcover blurb.

This 192-page hardcover is filled with an array of new character races, feats, prestige classes, spells, magic items, and more. Shining South offers more than just detailed information about one of the more distant regions in the Forgotten Realms -- it provides a wealth of material that can be adapted for use in a homebrewed campaign setting in need of a new exotic culture or interesting locale. Check out the back cover copy:
So, do not despair, Gez - the Ancient Race Returned trend may yet continue. :p
