In the Works: September

Not on the back, but in the blurb Mat Smith wrote before the backcover blurb.

So, do not despair, Gez - the Ancient Race Returned trend may yet continue. :p
We can also hold out hope for an elven subrace or two. Maybe one with a bonus to Con this time?

Looks like some serious product coming down the line. Hell, I still haven't even got d20 Future yet. I'm falling way behind... The curses of too little money. But if I got a second job, I'd have no time to read.... irony I tell you, irony...

No, I don't think so. They probably won't do an elven subrace with Con bonus (they have one without con penalty, but that's as far as it will get, unless they make a Middle Earth First Age d20 RPG and introduce Noldor. They'll probably have +2 or better in anything, and a massive LA)

And as much as I know about the area, there are is not a lot of elven presence. They are these half-drow amazones, but we have half-drow.

With the Great Rift a part of the region, they could make yeat another dwarven subrace, though. We have an abundance of them, too.

This 192-page hardcover is filled with an array of new character races, feats, prestige classes, spells, magic items, and more. Shining South offers more than just detailed information about one of the more distant regions in the Forgotten Realms -- it provides a wealth of material that can be adapted for use in a homebrewed campaign setting in need of a new exotic culture or interesting locale.
Yay, marketing vomit! How does WotC sell a book? By making quite clear that this book has new "feats, prestige classes, spells, magic items". Everything I actively avoid a book for.

Thankfully, I have a tendency of ignoring marketing wankers - I think Shining South is going to be actually quite good, if Serpent Kingdoms, Underdark, and Unapproachable East are any indication. I'm looking forward to it.

Dude, I think he meant it as a joke.

and it looks like they either listened to complaints or planned it all along as the writeup on the book says that Libris Mortis roughly translates to 'From the Books of Dead.'
I wouldn't be surprised if WotC planned that from the start..... Along with the buzz the seemingly wrong translation would bring. ;)

MMIII certainly seems interesting, as does Libris Mortis. The demo soundtracks from the Sharn CD sound nice, now that I've had a chance to listen to them on another computer.

And hey, Shining South only has 9 PrCs! Thats fairly low. Way to go WotC on killing the crunch. 33 spells? Whats that like 5 pages? Looks like another 24 page crunch section.

The spell section is bigger than the PrC section? I hope so. :)

Libris Mortis looks like it has promise.

I like those feats... well, most of the ones that were listed anyway.

Kenku! Did you say Kenku?!

...errr...

I must be missing something here. I look at the picture and immediately the word "tengu" pops into my head.

What's a kenku when it's at home? :heh:
