Yep, when they originally appeared in the 1E Fiend Folio they were named Kenku. In Oriental Adventures more mythologicaly accurate Tengu were introduced. Evidently now someone has decided to re-invent Kenku in a more larcenous vein to further seperate them from the original (except to D&D) asian version.

If by any chance you were wondering what EGG thought of the 1E FF version...
.../snip/...The treatment of the Kenku (sp?) also was not liked by me--katana-armed sparrows didn't do it in my view.../snip/...
LOL...I rather liked them myself.

Yeah especially if they can make them better/equal to their other fiendish counterparts. Which it looks like they did.

My ONLY want for Liber Mortis, MORE ORCUS!!! :p If not this is a worthless book.

Okay, I feel better about my marginal knowledge of Japanese folklore & mythology now! :D ;)
