D&D 4E Incorporating 4e healing surges and Warforged

I'm starting up a heavily house ruled 3e game using some 4eims and pathfinder and a lot of non core stuff.

I'm wanting to bring in healing surges from 4e: each class gets a certain amount (they overlap if you multiclass), characters can use second wind, and magical healing requires a healing surge to work but adds on to the 1/4 hp the surge provides. I'm fine with the balance of this rule and looking forward to trying it out.

One complication is that one of my PCs is a warforged who in 3e do not heal naturally, get 1/2 healing from normal healing magic, but can be repaired as a construct.

No natural healing is easy, no healing surge without a repair or magic action.

I'm stumbling a little on the 1/2 healing for normal healing effects though. 1/8 +1/2 the normal healing effect? Something else?

Suggestions?
