Indiana Jones-ish campaign

What rule set would be reccommended to run an Indiana Jones style campaign, set in the late 1930s with low (really low) magic and Nazis as the bad guys?

Somebody else will tell you to buy Adventure!, so I'll skip that and recommend some less obvious choices:

  • Savage Worlds (generic, though weighted toward fast action)
  • Mercenaries Spies & Private Eyes (plus T&T for magic)
  • Trail of Cthulhu (set during the 1930s by default and contains rules for pulp action)

Also, I've recently purchased a ton of pulp minis (see the link in my .sig) and have planned on running something like this as a wargame with roleplay elements, using the .45 Adventures rules (also linked to in the .sig).

A low-powered Champions game actually works pretty well. I had fun with ours. :)

If you go that route, it's best just to grab Justice Inc (the old Hero System Pulp adventure RPG boxed set).

Spirit of the Century. Indie darling it may be, it's hands-down the best pulp game I've ever played, and I've played 'em all.

I just checked out the 2 chapter preview for this (at the bottom of the page above) and it does seem VERY cool.

Also, I played HOLLOW EARTH EXPEDITIONS yesterday at the Boston Gameday, and it was a lot of fun.

I may need to get one...or perhaps both!

The SRD version of SoTC is available online for free, btw, if you want to check it out in more detail.

I own both games and regret neither purchase. Each does extremely cool things extremely well, though with somewhat different approaches. While my own personal tastes veer towards SoTC, I suspect my current group (which is composed of folks who like a bit more crunch in their games) would prefer HEX.
