Infernal Warlock thinks he's a paladin

Like the concept.

Could you house rule something like Imposter's Armor, except it would be leather, but would look like plate? That way you wouldn't suffer the penalty, but would have the look you want (of course your AC would drop quite a bit, but some of that could maybe be remedied with an off hand rhythm blade dagger or something).

Also Eldritch Strike instead of Eldritch Blast, and a Mage's Bastard Sword would let you wade into combat with your bastard sword, and do some stuff without provoking opportunity attacks on occasion.

The armor's an interesting idea. Getting to add the INT bonus back in means he would lose as much AC - 4 points.

I didn't even think to check Eldritch Strike (which is why I didn't pick a Mage Blade) as I was mixing it up with Reaper's Touch. That's a big improvement.

Prestidigitalis: From an RP perspective, I pretty sure my fellow players would be fine with him, and if Avandra has a problem - so much the better! Mechanically, my fellows might feel a little let down, as he's clearly a couple points off the optimal. :D

I think he'd be a blast to play tho.

If he uses Impostor's Leather Armor, he could think he's wearing plate armor that disguises itself as leather when he takes it off.

Awesome concept!

I guess the issue whether the character is truly delusional, or simply "crazy like a fox" and really will morph into "sort of a paladin" remains to be seen. I think that concept is best brought about in actual play.

A decent "sort of a paladin" might be brought about by taking a paladin multi-class feat at level 10, and a Charisma-friendly paladin paragon path (if there is such a thing) at level 11.

Then again, he might just end up a Turathi Highborn and his delusion continues...

"Kneel to the Turathi, you dog! Er... I mean... lie down for a moment, brother!"

This may not be exactly what you want, but you might consider playing a Hybrid Battlemind-Warlock, and taking Eldritch Strike (Melee weapon, con or cha vs AC, 1[W]+Con/Cha, slide target 1 square.) as your Warlock At-will.

If your deadset on being a Tiefling, you'll miss out on your infernal pact boon, but it will be easy to use Hybrid Talent to get scale armor.

If your willing to play a Human, you can use the additional at-will to get hellish rebuke and then spend your hybrid talent to get your pact boon back.

I have created, but not yet played, a similar character. His initial feats are Hybrid Talent for Battlemind's armor proficiency and reckless curse to make his curse act sort of like an extra mark. I plan to forgo a paragon path in order to get the infernal pact boon at level 10.
