So, for you DC fans, how tough is the Earth 2 Superman? I've read on other threads that Pre-crisis Superman could shrug off Nuclear weapons and that part of the reason for Crisis on Infinite Earths back in the day was so that they could bring down Superman's power level.

The whole bringing in the moral Silver-Agey Superman from Earth 2 reminds me of the Maximum Carnage storyline where Spider-man was giving up all hope of there ever being an end to the darkness and then Captain America shows up and brings hope and uplifts everyone. I loved that storyline too.

I might have to get back into comics, just gotta make sure the wife doesn't find out...

It's hard to say exactly how powerful Superman 2 was.

With a lot of things, it all depended on the writer.

In some things, he was weaker than Superman 1, but since Superman 1 is no longer around, we have to wonder if Superman 2 has still retained his old power level.

There was a bit, early on when John Byrne rebooted Superman, where he meet the Legion of Superheroes and the Superboy that inspired that team (the original, not any of the numerous reboots), and Superboy was powerful enough to in essence beat him down, but didn't want to because he was being forced to by the time trapper. He was faster, stronger, etc...

If this Superman 2 is at those power levels, he's probably one of the strongest, if not the strongest, being in the DC universe, save perhaps Power Girl and Supergirl, who at the moment have hinted that they have something to do with pre-Crisis power levels again.

One thing I'd like to add to my comment about Superman-2's strength vs Superman-3. Thinking about it, they've bumped Superman-3 (the current incarnation) up a few times. The most recent I believe was in War World where Mogul was teaching Superman how to move past his limitations and become even more powerful.

I'm hoping that that moral uplift is exactly what we'll see The Superman from Earth-2, thuogh, isn't the Silver-Age Superman, he's the Golden Age one. On the whole, he should be a lot weaker in many ways to the Earth-1 Superman but given how things have been dinked with in the past 20-someodd years, odds are they'er roughly the same now.

Yeah, the previous version of Superman could not only shrug off nuclear weapons, there really wasn't anything he couldn't do. Move planets. Break the time barrier, whatever. Byrne's revision, then later revisions played with his power level a lot. Still, there are maybe only a handful of beings physically more powerful than he is.

My favourite part of that whole comic has to be the Freedom Fighters coming face to face with a gang of Society members. You know they're so outclassed, against a such collection of villians that would even give the Justice League some serious problems.

One interesting thing I read is that the Seven Soldiers miniseries are supposably post-Infinite Crisis...

I haven't read any of the four Countdown miniseries; I've gotten a good idea of the general events skimming the Internet, but there are still a few things I don't understand, like...
