I'm enjoying IC and DC comics right now. I think it's cool that they're willing to mess with the status quo -- at least for now.
Here's my prediction on Infinite Crisis.
Kal-L goes around, trying to drum up support for his mission -- to go back in time to the universe's creation (or, Kronos' experiment -- he was the Oa guy, right?) -- and manipulate things so that Earth-2 becomes the basis for the current world. So, not a return to the multiverse, but a massive retcon.
At least, that's his plan.
So he goes out and gets help from key figures -- including Power Girl, his cousin. Next issue he goes for the big brains -- Batman (with that, see --- you can be married to Selena and have a kid who grows up to be the Huntress. And Dick is still Robin!!) (Of course, I'm guessing that Kal-L doesn't inform him that Bruce Wayne was murdered in his timeline!!)
Meanwhile, the rest of the world continues falling apart. The Amazons are lost, apart from Diana, who becomes the sole survivor. The Spectre is taking out Atlantis. The Society is stepping up their program.
Eventually, Kal-L will have to meet up with Kal-El and explain his plan -- and that it's his only chance to save Lois. Kal-El will understand his pain and frustration... but dude, he's not going to sacrifice THIS Lois for THAT Lois. They brawl.
And just when it looks like the Supes on Supes fight will cost everyone their greatest champion...
Alexander Luthor steps up, revealing his master plan. He's been controlling Lex Luthor from their pocket dimension. Lex has been fighting him, and occassionally regaining control -- but even when he's himself, he's deluded and a little bit crazy (and wearing that big supersuit and creating the Secret Six). There aren't TWO Luthors -- there's only one, but Alex Luthor has been in control for most of the time, creating the Society.
"HAHA! I've been manipulating you all from beyond the dimensions. And now that I've gathered up heroes drawn from all Earths (or at least their blood -- ie, Pariah), I will use (what my allies thought) was a memory wiping machine to recreate existance as I see fit...." or something like that.
Remember, he is half Anti-Matter.
But beyond that... he was once used as a tool by Darkseid.
That's right -- Darkseid, who was most recently a chump in Batman/Superman. All an act to get Supergirl in the right place at the right time.
Darkseid's been using Alexander Luther, who's been using Kal-L and Lex Luthor to manipulate things.
AT this point, when the chips are down and everything has been revealed and stuff is really about to hit the fan...
Well, that's when Kal-El steps up. More determined than when he fought Doomsday, Superman is prepared to sacrifice it all to save the Universe.
And Kal-L sees that he's been manipulated... and that (with Kal-El's recent example) there still are heroes left in this universe and maybe it is still worth saving.
In the end, Kal-L will end up sacrificing himself, and teach everyone what it means to be a hero. His farewell to Lois will be touching, as will his final speech to Superman and Powergirl.
I don't know how Donna Troy's crew fits in to this... Maybe the universe has already started to be remade... in Darkseid's image.
Still, this is my guess as to the general direction of things. (Now on record to be proven completely incorrect later...)
