Info on the Wizard (Looked at the book today)

OK, cool, thats what I thought it would mean.

I like it. A little extra versatility compared to other classes, but still toned down from 3.X and not for your bread-and-butter at-wills and encounter powers.

BUT you care store extra spells in the book, so each morning you pick what you want to fill your slots.
Think retraining but each morning...
Bah! This isn't "Prepared Spells." I recalled incorrectly.

And another Malhavoc Rule migrates into D&D. Why hello there, "Prepared Spells", long time no see.

Heh... sounds like the same spell preperation that's been in D&D for 30 years now, actually. Just lessened to a very great extent by a wizard's newfound, and sensible, ability to actually know a handful of spells by heart.

So a 1st-Level Wizard, then, gets... 4 Cantrips, 2 At-Will Spells (or three if he's human), 1 Encounter Spell, two Daily Spells (although you can only use one per day), and three Rituals, for a grand total of 12 spells. Not bad. I definitely gotta play a Wizard first chance I get. I always got frustrated playing Wizards in prior editions, as I'd always get stuck using a lousy crossbow. Really hated playing low-level Wizards. Looks like all my issues with low-level Wizards have evaporated, though. Can't wait to try it out.

I have to say, as much as I disliked Vancian casting as a whole, I rather like that wizards still have a spell book that they can fill up.

Although, it does lead me to wonder what other controllers might get in place of a spellbook like system, because to me at least, the ability to switch out dailies and utilities each morning is a major boon.

So, of the 5 dailies that wizards are supposed to have what are the two we're missing?

I'm guessing something to deal Int damage on a miss and... something else, push 1 or something. Thunder and lightning damage...

What and there wasn't going to be another one ;)

Any examples of what you can and cannot do with Prestidigation

I think the whole wizard being more powerful is WotC trying to balance out the bell curves of wizard vs fighter strengths

in earlier ed. Wizards were weak to begin with but became the most powerful, fighter were strong to begin with but rather lack luster in later levels, its sorta the reason wizards have @will powers now

and thanks for the info
