I use understand lang spells to read the infernal on these to objects

*A large medallion (think oversized, overthick coin). The coin has demonic markings and writing in infernal.
*A journal written in infernal.

What do I find out?

Alexander doesn't really have much intrest in the magic items or gold.

Journal - This basically details Sharyss' dealings with the people at the temple and how she has coerced them all to kill each other.

Medallion - You can read the writing on this device, but it seems to be written rather nonsensically. You can however determine (with Jarid's help) that it's a gate of some sort. Whether it creates a gate to somewhere, from somewhere, or both you are unsure. What you are sure of is that the device radiates a great amount of evil. Even the sigils on it are beyond even your religious knowledge.

Does the Journal have any information about who she is working for now?

I do a Legend Lore on the Medallion when I have a chance.

No, the journal was just her way of keeping track of who's who at the temple.

Gate of Asmodius.
This item is one of many such gates. These minor artifacts allow the weilder to summon any who serve in Asmodius' chain of command. The beings may be summoned from anywhere, but may not exceed 50HD in total. The weilder need merely think of those he wishes to summon. The summonees may choose to accept the summons and step through the gate to the weilders location, or they may refuse to enter. Alternately, the Gate can transport up to eight entities to the location of any one creature who serves under Asmodius. Again, the weilder need but think of the entity and a portal will open to the current location of that entity. The Gate is a one way door depending on the way it is used. When used for summoning, only summoned creatures may enter.
