More affordable than a $10 Pathfinder PDF or $5 Trailblazer PDF?

More affordable than Ryan's Stoughton's FREE E6?

How's that work? Do they pay me to play C&C?

C&C does have pathfinder edged out. It is only $9.99 :)

And it will costs less to print out the 129 page C&C compared to the full color 576 page ink monster that is Pathfinder.

Votan,

I actually should have specified *brand new books*, instead of just *books*. Because, last time I checked (just the other day, in fact ;) ) the second hand RPG book market was HUGE. Seriously, you can get just about anything for anything, and usually at a reasonable cost. If you don't mind second hand stuff, this is, of course.

So really, even if the expected personal library for say, D&D 3.5 happens to be 20 books :uhoh: then if someone needed to, they could probably pick up at least the majority of those, and quite likely all of them, with ease.

Yes, there are some crazily collectible items out there on eBay, or Amazon, or sometimes a place like Noble Knight, perhaps. But for most games and supplements in existence, even if they're quite old, things aren't even approaching that kind of wackiness.

So, if getting (or, in some cases, printing and binding) books isn't a problem. . . what is, I sometimes wonder. But then, I suppose, it's just part of the culture or whatever. Eh, like I said, never mind. ;)

Yeah, my home group just added PHBII; only the DM has the book so far and I rather constantly get suggestions for things from it that I should be doing.

I've tried looking for it and had no luck so far here in Seattle [I once owned a copy when I lived in Montreal]. I can find it online at about $50 but that is a fair barrier to entry if one has to collect boos again. Even the first 4 complete books aren't always trivial to get these days . . .

[Whereas the PHBI, MM and DMG are still pretty easy to find used at a reasonable price]

This is very different than AD&D where I found a copy of the relevant books in a weekend (much smaller number, much longer time in print than very late 3.5 edition stuff).

Honestly, if I was to play an "out of print edition" I would prefer 1E or 2E to a very completionist veruson of 3.5 or 3.0 E. :-S

I wanted to add a huge thank you for this thread for introducing me to Trailblazer. I have only just read the first couple of pages, and I am in nerd heaven. I like 4e just fine, but I also still like 3.x, and would be thrilled to keep playing or DMing it if the underlying problems with the system were fixed. I've found much to admire in Pathfinder, but feel it doesn't go far enough. Trailblazer does, at least if those first few pages are to be believed. It's my 3.x wishlist. Hell, I even love the font, which looks like it came right from the 1e PH.

Thank you, Wulf.
