Initiate of the Faith

Got a question about the multiclass feat initiate of the faith. i would imagine that this has been asked before but i can't seem to figure out how to scan the forums so I'm going to have to ask it again - sorry.

The wording of the feat is that once per day you can use the cleric's healing word power. Now the power itself states that it can be used twice per encounter. So does this mean that as a multiclassed character you can use healing word twice per day (accounting for the "special" text) or can you really only use it once and the "special" text is thrown out?

Any answers are always appreciated.

THANKS!!!!

Tale is correct.

Here is an explanation for why it works this way.

The general rule for Encounter powers is that they can only be used once per Encounter.
The specific rule for Healing word is that you may use it 2 (or more) times per Encounter.
The even more specific rule of Initiate of the Faith says you can only use the power once per day.

The more specific a rule, the higher importance it has.

My explanation is more along the lines of:
Healing Word is an Encounter (Special) power, with Special being that it can be used twice per encounter.
Initiate of Faith grants it as a Daily power, not a Daily (Special).

I believe a WotC FAQ/customer service response answered this sometime last month as well.

But, yes, basically once per day.

I used this method to explain this to my players:

- You can use Healing Word twice per encounter.
- You can use Healing Word once per day.

Both statements are true, and you can't violate either statement.
