Innate Spell Feat Query

I don't think you can have metamgic spells as innate spells. For one thing, an innate spell is a spell like ability, not a spell. Spell like abilities can'e benefit from metamagics. It's really up to you, as DM to decide, of course. If I did allow innate spells to include metamagics (I probably wouldn't, but just theoretically), I would impose some restrictions:

1) You must have both the spell and metamgic in question.

2) You must go by the normal level of the spell + metamagic. Improved metamagic is cheap enough as is, combining it with innate spell is utterly ridiculous! Also for game balance reasons, why should someone who got innate spell earlier had to pay more than someone who had the improved metamagic? I realize that epic chracters are supposed to be "epic", but that's what innate spell is in the first place!

3) I would NEVER allow Miracle to be an innate spell, enough said! Wish is ok because it costs exp every time you cast it, whereas Miracle gives you free duplication of spells! Just imagine! Someone gets Miracle as an innate spell and can then cast ANY spell or psionic power of up to 7th level and any cleric spell of up to 8th level, AT WILL! (not to mention they would all be hightened to 9th level for free)! YUCK! Besides, no diety would grant that, they'd get a little tired of the Cleric constantly besieging his power.

Bow of True Stiking + Shield of Haste, and all the money, XP, and time they take to get. All of which you could have at 15th level, even if you have to make it yourself. Or just casting Haste on yourself at lower levels, and having a lot of True Strikes memorized.

Vs.

Multiple feats, a permanently lost spell slot of great power, which you would have to be well into epic to even have. Not to mention that you are going to have to be a straight spell caster to have, unless you want to wait untill 40th+ level, so your not going to have the most/best attacks.

Obviously this is terribly broken, and should be banned.

Also, spell like abilities are treated in every other way like spells, so I don't see a reason not to allow them to be permanantly applied. I could see why you might balk at the power potential, but unless you want a silent cantrip, you are going to have to be an epic spellcaster to do anything worthwhile, and even then you need to take the right feats, especially the ones that give you the higher slots. Since you only get ONE of those from the feat, maybe two or three with a high ability mod., It is a real sacrifice.

Besides, by then you are supposed to be a master of magic. If everything that grants real, lasting power is called "broken", a word I am fast tiring of, then how are you ever going to have a PC that is on par with literary and film icons, like Gandalf. Don't tell me that we are never meant to play someone that powerful, just because some ELSE might abuse that power in game. Some of us can actually role play.

I don't believe in "broken".

Nothing's broken if you're open-minded and willing to call down divine powers to smite those who utilize those things that are loop-holes...

and anywho, I don't see a problem with allowing the all-powerful uber-characters known as "Epic Characters" to have the power that they no doubt deserve.
