I'm using an optimization I found on dandwiki.com that's pretty complicated. It's a combination Wizard/Warmage/Wild Mage/Ultimate Magus. I'm playing it at level 8 right now and so far it's been pretty effective. I'm really enjoying it when I can actually figure out what level to apply to what!
The original document had some good information but was poorly laid out, so I've spent some time reformatting it and adding information like the specials gained with each class and the "Spells Known Level" column. I also changed the "Race" requirement from the original author's "Any" to "Human, or any race with a bonus feat at level 1" since I'm pretty sure the combination of Prestige Classes requires that.
I'm not the most experienced 3.5 player so I would greatly appreciate any input and corrections to the changes I've made. I would copy the data over here but I'm not sure how the tables would translate. Here's the page:
