Inserting Image

Can someone help me with the process of inserting a photo into a post?

I know how to attach a file to a post, but I just got a digital camera and have some family pics I wanted to share with everyone. (Especially back when the ENWorld community thread full of pictures was very active)

go to "manage attachments" just below the subscription tab at the bottom of a post, push it, use browse. find the image on your pc, make sure it is small enough (usually 500 wide fits well) and "add this file".

then click all done

alsih2o - The process you described will show the image in the thread, and not make it some downloadable attachment? Also - how do I ensure that a jpg is 500 wide?

sometimes, i haven't figured that out with the new boards, and that depends on what photoediting software you are using go to "edit" or some such equivalent and try to resize, usually it lists it in some increment that is amystery to me, but in all 3 i have used "500 somethingorrathers" does it

if you wish to send the image to em i can size it for oyu, but i am not adept enough to explain, sorry

I think whether the image shows as an image or an attachment has to do with the speed of the viewers connection. My artthread has all the images placed in it as attachments. When I viewed my thread via dialup, they were all attachments, when I viewed my thread over my schools network connection the images actually show up in the thread. (with the exception of the one post that has two attachments, the both still show up as links).

I don't know the whys or howfors, but that has been my experience.

Alternately if you have the image hosted somewhere else then you should be able to use an image tag to include it in your post and it will definately show up. Though some places are not good for hosting images such as geocities and angelfire, because of limitations on the traffic they can handle and their own restrictions on linking directly to images.

I'll play with the photo tonight. If I can't figure it out, I'll send them to you to help me - thanks for the offer.

With any luck, I'll be able to post my pics tonight and reveal that I have a wife a two kids and I am not just roleplaying!
