Insight's Histhaven - IC

Markal raises an eye, glances around, shrugs, and gets down on one knee to make it easier for the imperious halfling to climb on.

OOC: So, my Athletics aiding Penny's Perception? edit: ooof, not a good start

OOC: It's OK. You don't need to make an Athletics check to lift a halfling. ;)

Penny cannot see much beyond the treeline. Some sort of fog seems to be obscuring what lies beyond.

Aleksey

"Hmm... So our choices are trees... trees... trees... Oh, more trees..."

Aleksey shrugs, even though he doesn't really want to reveal too much of himself. "I know some magic for divining, but it usual requires some sort of trappings of civilization..." He scans the ground, looking for any sort of debris, like a broken weapon, discarded wagon wheel, or rusty farm tool.

"Or do we just pick a direction?"

Markal

Seems we just pick a direction. After lowering the halfling to the ground, Markal stands, looks around, and points. Thataway, he says, and then begins to walk.

[sblock=Mechanics]None, really. Markal is pointing in a random direction, and starting to walk.[/sblock]

Carric

"This direction is as good as any."
Carric says and follows behind.

Aleksey

"Penny, has anyone ever accused you of optimism?" asks the vistani wizard as he begins to follow along, continuing to watch for any sign of sentient life passing through the field.

That's it. Play up the humour. If the like you, they'll at least give warning before...

"Tenebre, up here girl," he says, before the black cat skips up his arm to perch on his shoulder, partially curled around his neck.

"Carric, do you know... Does the Raven Queen have a history of appropriating folk for her own ends, or is she merely using tools that conveniently landed in her lap?"

Gods, Aleksey smiles wryly at the curse. Gods forbid they ever ask permission first...

Carric

"The ways of the Queen are mysterious... but she sometimes snatches away mortals shortly before their destined end to give them one last task...."
Carric ponders.

Markal agrees

Seems I've heard of that kind of thing, says Markal with a hint of strain in his voice that detracts from his usual jocularity. Darker things too.

He walks on for a few strides, then squares up his shoulders. Let's just make sure this isn't our last task, hmmm?

"Would you stop talking like that?" Penny demands, unwilling to admit openly that it was giving her major creeps to hear. This place was bad enough on its own without people practically speaking Famous Last Words with every breath.

I swear, if someone says they were just about to retire, I'm leaving them behind. Allies or no.

Aleksey

As he walks, Aleksey tries to fall back in the good humor of travel, recalling the amusement had with the Calendsr Troupe, and pusnhing away the fears - paranoia? - that these people are leading him into a trap.

A trap?

Quickly, suddenly, and with haphazardness, Aleksey begins checking his pockets, pouches, belt, and pack, taking an inventory of his gear against his memory.

"Everyone has what they should, right? No missing items? No added surprises?"
