Instead of a Screen...

Here's my suggestion: Stand Up.
It emphasizes your position of attention and lets everyone hear and see you better.

DM Screen is too useful to lay it out.
I sit in a high stool, while everyone sits in regular chairs, not only so they can see me, but I get to lord over them.

I use my screen on a side table to hide notes and minis.

I usually stand up (but have a stool to sit on occasionally), using a clipboard to hold a combat sheet (from Fiery Dragon's Battle Box), maps, and as a place to roll "hidden" dice roles.

And apparently, you also have some kind of echo to make you voice more impressive! Not bad...
Oftentimes I would apologize for the double-post, but it's the server's problem for taking too damn long to refresh the page after I hit the "Submit Reply" button.

And by "too damn long," I mean one hour ... on DSL.

Dude! I need to make a 4e version of this!
Ya, I can't overstate how useful this has been to me for decades (since the original version was first published in 1983). I don't know why nobody ever did something like it for 3E - or for 2E for that matter (other then me, of course). I always hated thacO mental calculations, for some reason. Dial up an opponent's AC, and you instantly know what every PC needs to hit. And having all those charts at your fingertips... priceless. When I get some time, I'll try to get something up on my website.
