Int increase and skill points

for a MAJORITY of that level (51% or more)

This is just my opinion, but personally, I don't really think that 51% is accurately representative of constant or very nearly constant, which is what the PH states. YMMV.

IMO, "nearly constant" is meant for situations like being robbed of all your stuff and getting it back within a day or two, or maybe for levelling up at the same time as you acquire the Int-booster - thus not having the booster from the very start of the level.

It's really a dumb rule IMHO. Why are skill points from INT not retroactive, but hit points from CON are? Yes, it's more of a logistical headache for a multiclasser, since you really should figure out what class spends which points, but it's not necessary.

I would characterize it as a logistical nigh-impossibility for multiclass characters, and a headache for everyone else, given that there are things in this game that can make you lose levels. With non-retroactive skill points, it's easier to keep track of what was bought when, and you've actually got a chance of remembering even if you haven't kept good records. Retroactive just turns the whole thing into a big, fudgy mess.

Con increases, on the other hand, are easy to deal with retroactively.

Basically, in each case the rule goes in favor of less bookkeeping. This is a good thing.

Like others have said, the increase is not retroactive. I just thought I'd chime in and say that the increase won't help at that particular level either - you haven't had the increased Int score for most of your previous level, which is what counts. In addition, you calculate skill points before you increase your stat.
Although the PH also says the opposite on page 10, where it says that Mialee gets the skill points when she becomes 4th level and increases her Int score. This is one of the few examples of a contradiction in the PH. I am not sure which is correct, but I would guess page 145 is the correct method.

Sounds like more than 51% to me, so I guess you and I agree. :)
