Interesting Article From Mr Cook.

I'd be really surprised if he were left out of the 4th edition loop. He was a central figure in the development of 3rd edition, and I think they would be interested in his feedback even if he's not actively taking a role in the design process.

Also, in one of the Gamer Zero audios, Monte said that he's an official Gleemax advisor. So, I'm almost certain that he's not entirely out of the loop.

I'm sure...

He's obviously friends with at least 1 of the designers, so I'm sure he's known about 4e for a while. (Although I'd never ask him to admit it, as I'm sure it's a matter of friends possibly getting in trouble for breaking their NDAs...)

I'm also thinking, judging from the "Just One More Thing" articles, that a lot of what's being done in 4e is work on issues they had in 3e, but either decided not to change, or came up with what they thought would work, and later found it doesn't do it as well as they had hoped...

Shrug.

Either that, or Mr Cook was trying to give a secret glimpse into 4e... ;)

The best he can do for a new campaign is about drow?! *yawn*
Why not? He wrote one of the best drow-based adventures, "Queen of Lies" (available from Fiery Dragon Productions).

I don't think the new campaign is soley about the Drow... It seems to me that it's about the Underdark as the entire setting. I'm looking forward to whatever he shares about this.
