Pathfinder 1E International Paizo customers get slugged...

..and Paizo is slugged as well. Ow.

It seems that the USPS (United States Postal Service, I presume) has changed its postage rates for international shipping. I've just got a message from Paizo that makes me very happy I'm not a Pathfinder subscriber.

Basically, if Paizo ships a lot (four pounds?) of books to you at once, the shipping cost is going up a *lot* - about fourfold. Paizo, being an incredible company, have decided to take some of that burden on themselves, so our costs only go up twofold, but it can't be great for Paizo's margins.

I almost think that getting PDFs is going to be the way to go when Paizo start producing 4e adventures...

If anyone wants to clarify this further from my rambling presentation, go ahead!

Cheers!

Yeah it sucks. It's not Paizo's fault but I imagine that they will lose some international subscribers because of it. The weak US dollar has made prices a lot more attractive of late.

I think this post office price rise may be due to the fact that oil prices have gone up so much lately, combined with the weak US dollar.

It makes PDF's a lot more attractive, especially for adventures (which I personally think are more useful in PDF).

The adventures are what I'd like to see from Paizo. There just hasn't been much point in getting any recently - both my groups are eager to start 4e and I had plenty of good 3e adventures already to take us through to... this Sunday actually, when we finally start playing 4e!

Cheers!

Indeed. I handle a lot of rate shopping/shipping concerns for my department at the corp I work for.

On May 12th, USPS increased all of their rates, domestic and international, across the board.

UPS and DHL both have monthly fuel charges that have skyrocketed in recent months, I am talking increases in the percentages they charge that are far and away higher than any previous increases.

I do feel sorry for companies that have to ship internationally but more so for the customers who will undoubtedly be able to purchase less because of shipping costs. Less gaming purchases = less happy.
