Intimidate - shaken house rule

RAW Intimidate:
Demoralize Opponent: You can also use Intimidate to weaken an opponent’s resolve in combat. To do so, make an Intimidate check opposed by the target’s modified level check (see above). If you win, the target becomes shaken for 1 round. A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. You can intimidate only an opponent that you threaten in melee combat and that can see you.

What do you think of this house rule for using Intimidate in combat:
Instead of being shaken for just 1 round, the target remains shaken for as long as they are in your threatened area.

Any problems you see in this?

I don't think that it would be a problem, but it doesn't sound that much more powerful, with the versatility of the 5-foot step. A Intimidates, B full attacks A and 5-foot steps back. Granted, it limits B's ability to react to A, but....

I think this comment is accurate and a good argument for allowing it. It shouldn't break things horribly, but give a little edge. Say your character is standing next to a wall getting pounded and wants to use a healing potion. Normally he'd have to eat the AoO, but if he can intimidate the opponent so much that said opponent backs up 5 feet, he can drink the potion safely.

Plus that's just cool! Scaring somebody in combat should make them back up. It might add some more movement to combat, which I think is always good.

*yoink*

JimAde, your logic is *wonderful*. It gives an actual reason to pick up ranks in Intimidate and makes a non-silly way for someone to use a potion in combat. Due to your logic, I will now Yoink this idea. :)
