In another thread I got to thinking of an invisible ambush, with a main visible oppoenent leading the party into it. Now I have a different idea, lets say the Mr. Big in the adventure is either a wiz/sor r has access to one capable of casting the 3rd level invisible circle spell. If everyone in that circle is carrying a tower shield, and never attacks they just set up formation and get in the way how would it play out?
For example in a 25' wide room at the back of it is Mr. Big he's in plain view.(has a secret trap door exit in his square Bwahahah I'll be back)
For two sqaures in fornt of him in rows of 5 taking up the 20' width are invisible tower shield bearers. And to his left and right 2 tower shield bearers. Assuming the party enters the room so the tower shield bearers are between them and Mr Big.
50% miss chance for all of them sure.
What's the cover from a wall of tower shields for the tower shield wielders?
If there's a second row what's there cover?
The Mr Big in the back he'd likely have see invis going so he wouldn't trip over his own men would he need to be at a somewhat elevated position to fire at the PCs?
If not what would his modifiers likely be?
What cover would he have?
