If anything, I was actually looking for MORE options. I think IH would benefit immensely from a cool Action Point system, a la Grim Tales. You have so many cool abilities but it's tough to pull them off sometimes. More swash!
You should check out Mastering IH's glory point rules, GlassJaw! They provide some of this "extra swash" of which you speak.

Alternatively, you could just use the Action Point system out of GT.

I was pretty hard on IH for a while. I'm a huge fan of low-magic games and I always felt IH was a bit too "supers" and rules-heavy for my taste. I couldn't have been more wrong. Granted, some of the class abilities were a bit wonky but overall it was just FUN.

Wow. Just... "wow". I remember our debates! I'm really glad you had a blast, man! Awesome! :D

Now if I could only get to try Grim Tales... :)

I ran a few one-shots for IH, and I loved it. My players loved it too. There are a few wonky rules that could use an errata, and a couple of the classes seem to gain tokens too slowly (Weapon Master and Armiger, I'm looking at you), but overall, it really is an awesome cinematic system. The way environmental rules were done really made me think about terrain much more even in my 3.5 campaigns. Maybe I'll see if the crew will let me run this adventure as a one shot . . .

Heh, oh yeah. ;)

Well I think my initial "issue" with IH was that it was billed as being able to play just like "standard" D&D without the magic, i.e., you could run stock D&D modules with IH characters and not have to change a thing. That's obviously not the case, nor would I want to do that anyway.

But yeah, it's just a fun system, especially since it encourages action. I'm not sure I would run IH wholesale as-is but it's certainly one of the first resources I check to borrow from.

Email Wulf - he'll help you get a copy I'm sure.

While I don't dislike the token system per se, I think it's probably a little too rules-heavy for the effect it's trying to bring to the table. Again, I think IH would benefit greatly from a robust AP system.

I would probably scrap tokens altogether and make the class abilities per encounter or per day based or required activation by spending an AP.
