Iron Kingdoms

First Post
I have just picked up the Witchfire Trilogy and the Lock and Load Primer from Privateer Press - and must say I am very impressed. I am going to start running them soon, and am hoping that the good peoples of enworld might be able to point me in the direction of any forums or useful discussions online regarding the setting and the modules, or might want to comment on them here.

Cheers

PS. I have looked at the official IK site

You really should also pick up the Monsternomicon -- lauded as quite possibly one of the best d20 books in print (by me, at least, but I've heard it from others as well.)

There's also an IK mailing list -- you can probably find details on the website.

I'd like to second this informal nomination. I love this book! And I really like the miniature line they're making to support the setting (at least from what I've seen in the promotional poster my store was sent).

The Monsternomicon deserves a third nomination for best d20 book on the market. If you are going to play an Iron Kingdoms campaign this book is essential. It has the IK specific races, loads of new monsters and flavor text that brings the world alive.

If your looking for IK forums just post on these boards and IK fans will respond.

When you are accepted, browse the forums, there is a lot of great stuff! Especially a bunch of notes people have written up for the witchfire adventures!

I'm almost done running the second adventure of the trilogy now, so If you need any advice, just ask!

edit: And yeah, get the monsternomicon! Lots of nice tidbits of info about the setting and great monsters!

I wrote a few of the creatures in the Monsternomicon (in particular the Assassin Fly, Boatman, Dune Prowler, Eldritch, Lemax, Oasis Ooze, Rusalka, Sepulchral Lurker, and the Tatzylwurm...). I had a blast working working with them and wish there was a EN Award for "Coolest Bunch O' Guys to Work With." ;-)

PS: If any of you want to give me feedback on any of the above monsters please do... I love hearing what people like/disliked... what has been used in peoples' games and whether it worked or not... Thanks ;-)

I don't have much use for modules. I prefer to create my own adventures. How useful is the Witchfire Trilogy as far as info on the Iron Kingdoms? I have the Monsternomicon (best monster book in print) and the Player's Companion. I am looking forward to further publications. Should I pick up the Trilogy? I also just applied for the mailing list.

Most of the info on the Iron Kingdoms in the Trilogy is the same as on the IronKingdoms.com website. Although you get a lot of detail on the city of Corvis of course, as it is the setting of most of the adventures!

After reading the website, and the first Witchfire module, I was really looking forward to doing a campaign in the Iron Kingdoms, all I needed was the world book. I've now gotten tired of waiting for a world book. The folks at Priveteer Press seemed more interested in making a miniature game than expanding on what could have been one of the best(and most original) D&D worlds to come out since the original Forgotten Relms.

I'm no longer interested in the Iron Kingdoms. It's a shame, what a waste.

Privateer isn't neglecting the worldbook in favor of working on IK War Machine - they're just waiting until the 3.5 revisions to make sure everything's compatible.

least, that's what i hear...
