Irontooth...owie!!!!!

My group played through the Irontooth segment last night....almost TPK. One character (the warlord) died, the fighter below 0 hp, and the rogue and the paladin a hair away from 0 hp too. The wizard, the most healthy was begining to see the end of his mortality too.

You guys?

Let's make a running total of how many PCs Irontooth killed.

For me and my group = 1 dead tiefling warlord.

Since that encounter is designed for a party 5 levels higher, it isn't that surprising. I'd suggest dropping a dragonshield and dropping the elite bonuses from Irontooth. Cut his hit points in half and drop 3 of his defenses by 2 (and maybe ditch the AP). That will go a long way towards making that encounter tough, but doable, without having to play it stupid or fudge it.

If you do do that, don't forget to drop the XP total for the encounter. No freebies!!!

3 characters dead here.
And one lone rogue, who made it out alive, to return and sneak attack the remaining kobolds and save her friends.
It was a glorious battle.

Dragonborn cut down with a critial hit from a bloodied Irontooth.

Tielfling cut down next round with the dual action that didn't quite take down the rogue.

Rogue cut down the third round.

Mage and dwarf fighter managed to get out alive.

I assume that the d10 extra he gets when bloodied is also maxed when critical hit is rolled?
